BOWED GUITAR CLOUDS is a cinematic morphing pad instrument running in Kontakt 5.8 and above. It is based on recordings of bowed guitars including a semi-acoustic bass, a Portuguese steel-string ukulele and a hollowbody electric guitar. BOWED GUITAR CLOUDS makes use of Kontakt’s AET Filter technology to seamlessly morph between layers of sound, both tonal and non-tonal. The instrument has a simple GUI allowing for controls for the morphing within each layer (A and B) as well as adjustment of balance between these layers. Other controls include distortion, BP filter, delay and reverb as well as three-band parametric EQ. BOWED GUITAR CLOUDS is a one-page Kontakt instrument designed for ease of use and immediate results.

We used a Martin acoustic guitar and a Harley Benton acoustic bass.

The bowed psaltery is a 20th century re-imagining of the psaltery, a plucked zither dating as far back as ancient times. The instrument produces a high, almost glassy tone similar to other fretless zithers, and does an excellent job of standing out in any mix. With a sound reminiscent of its medieval roots, it’s a sure match for any fantasy or historical track. We have painstakingly chromatically sampled the entire range of a two-octave example with 14 total articulations ranging from magesy download the original bowed to plucked, picked, and even struck with a hammered dulcimer mallet, all with up to 8 round robins.

The “Ancient Bowed Psaltery” is an Instrument Sample Library for Native Instruments’ Kontakt 5. The recorded instrument has 21 strings attached to a triangle shaped corpus made of thin wood. The psaltery is a member of the harps- and zither-family which dates back to the first half of the 13. century. First it was played by plucking the strings with the fingertips but later in the early 20. century it was played with small bows not longer than a cubit.

The Bowed Bucket is what happens when you hammer together an big fat instrument out of a 5 gallon plastic bucket, a wooden 4×4 beam, bass turners and cello strings. The bucket was fitted with tuning lugs and then holes were drilled out to allow individual strings to pass through, using the bottom wall as the bridge, so that sound projected outward and down. Then a 4×4 wooden beam was affixed to the bucket and the strings were then stretched up the heavy wooden neck, roughly nailed in place and hand -tuned. Remember that old string and paper cup trick from magesy download when you were a kid? Yeah, think bigger.

It is a sound that adds space and movement to a composition and brings a magical, shimmering high end and baleful, evocative character.

Welcome to Bowed Grand Piano – a library decided to deep sampling of bowed and FX based grand piano strings. The bowing of a piano is a delicate effort, since the instrument is not designed to be bowed. We developed a variety of new recording techniques that allowed us to get deep inside the piano and record a variety of bowings and FX that haven’t been covered in previous libraries. The library is more ambient then oue Plucked Grand Piano, since the concept of bowed piano tends to go in the more ambient/drony direction. We bowed every single string on a world class grand, including both sustains and staccato notes.
