    Microtape 2 Electric Harpsichord KONTAKT

    TEAM MAGNETRiXX | 21 April 2014 | 12.3 MB

    No.2 in the microtape series.

    Electric Harpsichord – Harpsichord preset from magesy download the Farfisa 110pro 1970’s portable organ. With 5 token presets, this isn’t designed as a synth, like Tronto for example, but as a player, with a virtual tape machine running all the time beneath the engine. You have 3 types of control (via the ‘Degrader’) over tape damage – via filter,amplitude or pitch, with a tape speed slider as well, so Boards of Canada style sounds are easily obtainable, or you can set the controls to zero to bypass the effect. There is a simple low pass filter (no resonance) that can be connected to velocity (as can amplitude) for instrumental expression, but also more interestingly is hard wired to the ADSR envelopes, so a slower attack also brings about a slower filter attack (if engaged), to emulate the tape head coming into contact with the tape (likewise with the release).

      …::: Edition Organeum :::…

      The German Harpsichord 1741 library features another rare German harpsichord built by Christian Zell in 1741. The instrument provides an elusive majestic texture and beautiful upper mid harmonics unlike any other harpsichord. Residing at the Organeum in the Northern Germany, the harpsichord is in excellent playable condition. The sample library features six sounds sampled seperately – the front and a rear 8′ stops, both together, the 4′, Lautenzug and the tutti combination. The Zell harpsichord is now available in the sampler in its Bach-Kellner tuning at 399 Hz (presets at 440 Hz are also available). Like all harpsichords, the instrument is not touch-sensitive like a piano. However, even if the differences are minuscule, not any given note will sound the same twice due to different resonances of body and strings. Up to now, many keyboards and samplers represented harpsichords by always triggering off the exact same digital sample, leaving a cold and sterile sounding impression. In order to pay tribute to the liveliness and depth of this antique instrument, we captured every sampled stop with eight variations per note (Lautenzug and 4′: four samples per note).

        The Austrian Harpsichord library features an instrument built by Johann Anton Miklis in 1671 in Prague (which belonged to Austria back then). Offering three sounds – 8′, 4′ register and the combination of both – it show the rich and slinky texture of Austrian-built instruments which Mozart would have known. Austrian Harpsichord Edition Beurmann MULTiFORMAT screenshotThe harpsichord still remains in well-playable condition despite its age. It is now available for your sampler, presented in its original Valotti-tuning at 392 Hz, capturing all three register variations – 8′, 4′ and both registers together. Presets at 440 Hz are also available. In its bass octave, the harpsichord does not feature a c-sharp note, as part of its design. We added “optimized” presets so it can be played regularly in the bass as well. Like all harpsichords, the instrument is not touch-sensitive in the sense of a piano. However, not any given note will sound exactly the same twice due to different resonances of body and strings. Up to now, many keyboards and samplers represented harpsichords by repeating the exact same digital sample. In order to avoid the problem, we captured the sampled registers with 8 variations (4′: 4 variations) of each note. The key release sounds are also of major importance: We recorded 4 release samples per note.

            ELECTRIC BAROQUE REVIVAL

            Commonly known as the Baldwin® electric harpsichord, the Baldwin® Combo Harpsichord originated in the early 1960’s under the umbrella of a short-lived harpsichord manufacturing firm called The Cannon Guild. Founded by the harpsichord builder Eric Herz, the firm supported an inventor named Caleb Warner, whose idea eventually became the Baldwin® electric solid-body harpsichord. The design was soon sold to the Baldwin Piano Company, who manufactured it with the hope that the 1960s’ surge in Baroque-influenced music would turn it into a success. However, only around 500 of these instruments were ultimately produced.

              The Tiny Binaural Harpsichord³ remains beautifully faithful to its rare origins, a spinet harpsichord made by influential instrument maker and musician, Arnold Dolmetsch (1849-1940). But, as always with a Sound Dust instrument, the TBH³ offers much more than impressively realised acoustics and editing – it offers two completely unique and incredibly versatile ‘must have’ instruments for the modern player, sound designer or composer. Source samples were painstakingly recorded using OKM Binaural microphones, enabling the capture of omnidirectional stereo sound as experienced by the ear. The result is transparency and authenticity by the bucket load. The TBH³ delivers the resonant joy of a small period harpsichord, its ancient soundboard alive to the ring and thrum of quill plucked brass strings and the soft organic clunk of a worn wooden mechanism.

                The slick, rich tone of a rare traditional Italian harpsichord is stunningly captured in over 1,600 individual samples and patches for all leading samplers. The Italian Harpsichord III library features an instrument built around 1690 by an anonymous maker. Featuring three sounds – a front and a rear 8′ register as well both together – it allows for the traditional rich and slick Italian harpsichord tone, offering additional flexibility by choosing the adequate 8′ or using the gentle 2 x 8′ combination with its inspiring and complex harmonics. While it is very typical for the Italian style to feature a housing seperated from magesy download the painted cabinet, this instrument is one of the rare Italian harpsichords with a fixed housing. Instead, it belongs to the category of so-called ‘false inner-outer’ instruments: The edges of the body as well as the offset cheeks are used to pretend that it features a separate housing.

                    Harpsichords are a form of keyboard instrument with a history as far back as the Renaissance, predating the modern piano by several hundred years. The only problem with the design of the harpsichord was that it lacks the ability to create dynamics naturally. Instead, different stops must be used to achieve different timbres and volumes, like on organs. This particular harpsichord is a hand-built modern replica based on designs from magesy download the Baroque period and features two different stops.

                      The Italian Harpsichord library contains a historical harpsichord built in 1579 by Pierluigi in Livorno. Sharing its tonal qualities for almost half a millenium, it is a classic example of how Italian harpsichords were built for about 200 years. Compared to its Dutch and English siblings, the Pierluigi harpsichord stands out due to its light and simple design (one 8′ register) and mostly because of its fundamental, sonorous warm and deep tone. This unique instrument in the collection of Andreas Beurmann still remains in excellent playable condition despite its age. It is now available for the first time for your sampler within the Italian Harpsichord library, presented in its original meantone tuning at 383 Hz (Presets in 440 Hz are included as well).
