As the latest installment of our quarantine series, violist and violinist Will Marshall recorded this pack in his home studio in Brooklyn, NY. He layered each instrument—two violins and one viola—eight times to craft the huge sound associated with disco strings. The resulting one-shots and loops are soaring, emotive, nostalgic, and perfectly tailored for French house, nu-disco, pop, among many other dance music styles.

A simple sample set From the Hohner Pianet T, but with a twist.
As always, sampled to worn tape to emulate the mellotron sound, but this time the samples have been gently overdriven with vintage valves, to bring out the hidden character of the Pianet, which without sounds very polite. With the valves added, the Pianet comes to life, and sounds like a wurlitzer / rhodes hybrid, and more. There are over 40 different 70s inspired instrument patches created for Kontakt 4.2.4 or later, and the wavs will also load in other samplers too (but no presets). The kontakt patches have a theme of modulation running through most of them, from magesy download autowah to ramped lfos and delays (via the mod wheel), as well as classic phasers.

This is a light version of the Alicia’s Keys piano library. The library is based on a very rare Yamaha C3 Neo Grand Piano, owned by Alicia Keys herself. The library has a quite warm and intimate sound. It sounds the best in the middle range of keys, but unfortunately has something weird going on with the release behaviour in the lower keys. It sounds great magesy torrent in Pop, R&B and Jazz contexts, but does a fine job in Cinematic pieces too. Since there was no update to the sample content, both the original v1.0.0 NKI as well as the v1.5.0 NKI are included in the release for convenience and backwards compatibility. The samples in the original release were in 24-bit 48kHz format. The samples were converted to 16-bit 44.1kHz and repacked into NKX containers. A null test results in a peak of -87dB, which won’t be audible at all. Also, after quite some testing, no issues were found with noise floor build-up when playing lots of notes. The conversion process takes the size down to 2.74GB from magesy download the original 6.98GB, which is a 61% reduction!

Unique timewarped Optigan / String Synth hybrid!
Possibly our gnarliest, grungiest instrument yet, Platter is a kind of bastardised string synth hybrid, taking as its starting point a variety of synth waveforms but reimagining them as built into a vinyl-based replay machine. If a Solina and an Optigan were abandoned in an attic for fifty years and had babies, this is what they might sound like… The core premise is quite a simple one: we took a variety of synth waveforms, but with a hefty bias towards the string-synth end of the spectrum, and had them pressed to custom dubplates by our local vinyl workshop. We deliberately didn’t go down the standard route of saw, sine, square for this one; instead, there are a couple of “synth staples” but also a batch of more orchestrally-themed sounds taken from magesy download old string synths and other more complex instruments. So instead of choosing “Pulse” or “Saw”, you’ve got things like “Symphonic”, “Baroque”, “Choral” and “Elegiac”. Not sure what that’s going to sound like? Try it and see

Ruby is the first release of our Boutique Drums series. We consulted with our drummer Brian Scoggin (Casting Crowns) who curated a kit comprised of truly boutique drum pieces for this release. We also chose to record at Hey Hey Studios in Griffin, Georgia for it’s outstanding acoustics and engineering; a remarkable space providing a tasteful balance of both room and character. Each of the eight mixes were created from magesy download scratch using an arsenal of processing tools, both hardware and software. We chose to develop the presets outside of Kontakt to deliver what we felt were precision mixes with the right amount of punch, balance and vibe while providing just enough headroom to treat well to additional processing. Under the hood, Ruby also alternates between two different sets of hi-hat/ride multisamples; depending on how quickly you hit successive notes for the given articulation. The initial hit triggers the isolated sample while subsequent hits trigger repetition samples.
