When I first heard the Proteus/1 I was blown away by its internal demo song. The strings sounded so real to me, one could hear the rosin on the bow and the friction of it on the strings of the violins. One of the peculiar things about the Proteus is the fact that many patches seem to emulate Roland D-50 patches, but not Korg M1 patches.. Both instruments were the instruments “to beat” at the time. I wonder why the programmers only focused on the D-50 and didn’t give the M1 sounds a shot.

The Microwave XT is a great magesy torrent big orange polyphonic rackmount synthesizer. While combining the power of the Wave and the compact design of Waldorf’s Microwave II, the XT adds a bit of knob-laden heaven. At first glance the top section completely resembles the 2-space rackmount version of the Microwave II. And then there are three more rack-spaces full of knobs and lots of knobs means lots of control. As far as enhancements, the XT model has 20-bit DSP functions but that’s about it. Its true power and features lie in the 44 hands-on knobs which make editing in real-time quick, easy and perfect for performance and studio work. All of the knobs transmit MIDI information as well!

The Metasonix S-1000 Wretch Machine is the only commercially available synthesizer to use gas-tube oscillators as the fundamental sound source. This technology predates most of the recognized synthesis advancements of the 20th century, and was abandoned in favor of integrated circuits. The waveforms generated by these gas-filled wonders of yesterday are a beauty unto themselves – wildly variable, inherently unique, and filled with atmosphere. At the helm of this recording is Michael Weeks, who has been involved with the S-1000 Wretch Machine since its inception. Brought to life at Metasonix with help from magesy download Michael’s constant prodding to create an integrated rack mount synthesizer, and named after his band The Wretch, Michael has clocked more hours behind the wheel of the Wretch Machine than anyone outside of Eric Barbour. The goal of this library is simple: provide the most comprehensive and raw presentation of the heart of the Wretch Machine to sound designers via painstakingly recorded samples of its oscillators. Utilizing a scripted interface in Kontakt 4, we provide basic building blocks for sound designers to truly integrate these incredible waveforms into their studio environment.

The Trinity was a major break-through synthesizer for Korg. It is a beautiful, state of the art and superb sounding music workstation which first appeared in 1995. Its most notable new feature to the synthesizer industry is the super-cool 320 x 240 TouchView Graphical User Interface….which is also the heart of the instrument! The EX7 features a unique Extended Synthesis system which incorporates a number of the most advanced tone generator technologies currently available…plus a full-featured sampling system. It offers a Four-Element Voice structure which allows for up to four independent waves from magesy download any of the tone generators.
