The Resonator guitar is an instrument with real character. This library, from magesy download our Elastik Instrument Series, captures that classic sound made famous from magesy download National Tricone and Dobro-style instruments. Traditionally, Resonators are associated with Blues, Bluegrass and Country musical styles. The phrases included here will work perfectly in that context. However, the sound and performances can also bring a distinctive element to Pop, RnB, Soul and Rock productions. Resonator Guitar is therefore a library with broad musical applications.

The Celestial Choirs featured in The Pentodian Choir started off life as little more than a series of short pulses created by an old hand-configured analog lab signal generator. The frequency of the pulse train was gently modulated using the swept oscillator function to act as a vibrato. The pulses were converted into exponential ramps using a passive wave shaper circuit similar to those found in early string synths and the resulting sawtooth fed into a Triple Passive L/C Resonator circuit based on the 1938 Novachord formant resonator section.
The Resonator is a unique sound, reminiscent of pioneering, pre-1950, electronic instruments like the Ondioline and the Theremin. Unlike those strictly monophonic instruments, this Kontakt Kit has, in addition to the melody oscillator, a set of “resonators”, which produce an ever-shifting set of drone voices, sort of like the oscillator version of sympathetic resonator strings on a sitar or a viola d’amore. It works like this: You play a melody with the right hand, and hold down a chord with the left. As you are playing the melody, different notes of the chord will be brought out as they resonate with whatever melody notes you are holding in the left hand. All this is accomplished with a custom script for Kontakt, not available anywhere else – its like a dedicated VST instrument. The result is a rich texture that constantly shifts with different notes coming to the fore, all in a gorgeous space provided by the Kontakt convolution reverb.
