        Progressive House Pluck Synthesis

        FANTASTiC | 12 June 2019 | 244 MB

        In this class, I will go over the basics of making a ‘progressive house pluck’ used by EDM artists, such as Deadmau5. You will learn how to create the sound, write the midi notes, and use automation to create a rise effect. All that is needed is a Digital Audio Work Station (DAW) and a synthesizer. For this class, I used Ableton Live 9 as my DAW as my synthesizer. However, almost any DAW and synthesizer will work. The class project will be a short track you made using your own unique modification of the sound and writing your own midi notes and automation.

            In this Max class, I will be teaching you Sound Synthesis inside Max for Live in Ableton Live 10. This class can also be used for anyone that has Max as a stand alone device. Some of the topics covered are quite advantaged, so maybe don’t take this class if you are brand new to Max. Project Description: – Make your own Max patch and then write a short description of how you made it. You can also include a screenshot if it’s needed and then post this as a class project.

              FM Synthesis TUTORiAL

              P2P | 27 December 2018 | 456 MB

              The origins of FM Synthesis date back to the 1970’s. Frequency modulation is a type of synthesis that is heard in many genres of music including house, pop, dubstep, EDM, electronic music, and more. Popular synthesizers include the Yamaha DX7 keyboard and the software synth Native Instruments FM8 – both of which have been used by notable artists. This course is designed to teach those who may not be familiar or comfortable with synthesis about frequency modulation, and how it can be used as a method of synthesis to create very unique sounds and textures. We will start by making the connection between frequency and pitch, and then introduce the basic concept of frequency modulation by using an LFO to modulate the pitch of a sine wave. By increasing the speed of the modulation, the viewer will notice that it sounds less like the pitch is changing and more like the overall timbre is changing. Once this is understood, we will dive deeper into the Operator instrument in Ableton Live and discuss various ways we can take advantage of frequency modulation by utilizing the four operators, different routing algorithms, and different sources of modulation (LFO, Pitch Envelope, Filter Envelope). At the conclusion of this mini-course the viewer will be able to create unique sounds from magesy download scratch by utilizing FM synthesis.

                ..:: Beginners Guide ::..

                Explore modular synthesis using open-source virtual modular synthesizer, VCV Rack. Modular synthesis can get a bit technical but it can also yield unique and highly customised results. If you’re interested in learning how to use a modular synth, or VCV Rack in particular, this course will set you on the right path with professional instruction and techniques you can start using right away. In this course we will look at VCV Rack, an Open-source virtual modular synthesizer, it is modelled and behaves like a real world modular synth and even has some modules that are replicas of hardware. It was originally standalone only but recent updates have introduced communication to and from magesy download a DAW, using a method similar to Rewire, along with better stability. This course is an introduction to Rack and how to use a Modular Synthesiser. There are a myriad of modules available, this course will cover the basics of CV and gate routing and setting up a basic patch. While this course will mainly focus on using the software as a standalone synth we will also look at incorporating it into an arrangement within a DAW.

                  From atmospheric pads to the most unique and exciting sounds you can imagine, granular synthesis opens a whole new world of sonic possibilities. In this course, by synth expert, you learn everything you need to master Reason 10’s Grain Sample Manipulator synth. Listen closely, because this synth is truly amazing… and a lot of fun! Rishabh starts with an overview of the user interface, where you discover how the instrument is laid out. Next, you learn how to load samples, how to set up the root key, and how the different playback modes work. In the next section, Rishabh explains the differences between the four playback algorithms: Tape, Long Grains, Grain Oscillator, and Spectral Grains. Continuing with the course, you also get a solid understanding of the oscillator, filter, amp, modulation, and effect sections. The course concludes by putting everything you learned together in an otherworldly sound design workshop!

                    Microcosm is a collection of long (10-60 sec) evolving textures created using a combination of additive and granular synthesis. By using both additive and granulation synthesis we were able to really focus on creating evolving elements in the frequency and time domain — this allowed us to explore changing harmonic structure and discrete granular properties simultaneously — the result of this exploration is textures that have the harmonic sweeps from magesy download additive and the distinct particulated sound from magesy download granulation synthesis. This collection was primarily created on Symbolic Sound’s Kyma System.
