No, of course, we added a SECOND Matrix, with 2 additional envelopes, one LFO, a detailed Sample and Hold module, and a Voltage processor … And some input modules : Gate, Transient, Envelope Follower and Pitch Tracker to transform the XILS 3 into an advanced Effect Processor !
It’s a String Machine, It’s a Synthesizer, It’s a Bass Synth And it can be the three of them simultaneously, which is why the original unit was advertised as ‘The Analog Orchestra’ We also added: A Vintage Analog Human Choir Machine (as an alternative oscillator source for the Synthesiser part) and exposed numerous hidden parameters of the vintage String Machine model. The X-505 offers all the layering and tweaking possibilities of it’s glorious ancestor, including it’s precious balance between the Strings registers, and precise balance for all the inputs of the quadruple (yes 4) BBD Chorus unit. More : A lot of hidden parameters are now exposed and available to tweak in the different X-505 panels for a much wider sound palette. A juicy sounding analog Phaser and the vintage reverb add to the pile.

Inspired by the EMS Flagship Vocoder ( EMS 5000 -1976- Probably the most complex and powerful analog Vocoder ever built) , XILS-lab used his knowledge acquired during the emulation of both the VCS3 synthesizer and the VP300 VocoderPlus to develop the XILS Vocoder 5000 Model.
How analog and vintage can a VST synth like the XILS 4 (expanded) emulation of the Synthi / EMS VCS3 sound? Well, having worked with synthesizers both analog and digital for more than 30 years, when I finally got XILS-4 loaded in my DAW, I was blown away by its incredible (balanced) fatness and pleasant detail and liveliness of tone, which make it incredibly hard – and mostly pointless – to distinguish it from magesy download a hardware analog synth. It also immediately brought back fond memories of the first analog synths I owned, back in the 1980s. The raw sound of a Synthi can take on any of the big classics, with its own peculiar characteristics of course. And the XILS-4 emulation, with its polyphony, PWM, the additional envelopes, a dedicated LFO, a S&H and other options that didn’t exist on the original models, is a true “analog” beast. Normally, designing sounds for synthesizers is not my trade. However I have been doing it for 30 years for my own productions, yet without ever publishing a commercial soundset. Once I started programming the XILS-4 VST, searching for the classic sounds that I craved, I got totally carried away, ending up with a few hundred quality presets! :)) I figured it would be a sin not to make these available to others. So here is my first commercial soundpack!
