Where Nordsund Blood and Gold featured a number of patches designed for season four of the Nordic Noir smash hit, The Bridge, Dusk and Snow have been designed from magesy download scratch for this release, building on and advancing the original ideas. Nordsund Dusk is all about the sound of night falling. The darkness providing cover for the secrets lurking in suburbia, criminals and their prey leaving the safety of their homes, downbeat detectives processing witnesses and suspects. Dark and brooding synthetic pulses and spaces. Nordsund Snow conveys the wide open splendour and horror of white, barren landscapes. Frozen enigmas, the dangers hidden, both man made and natural. Vendettas and mysteries, passed down through generations; the clash of cultures and fear of change, as the urban slowly encroaches on the wild. The patches were created during bespoke sound design sessions I was doing for the fourth season of Swedish/Danish detective drama, The Bridge. Brooding detectives, cold nights, complex murders, achingly beautiful scenery and sophisticated urban design: Nordsund reflects the sonic landscape of one of the most cutting edge and thrilling European TV series. Grinding basses, industrial textures, silky pads, unstable sequences, tense percussion; Nordsund blends uneasy, moody analogue with dark, taut organic vibes for an authentic slice of melancholy Scandinavian tones. There are a number of time signatures represented in the basslines, synth sequences and drumloops to allow you to build up suspenseful, syncopated tracks. Plus, as always, care has been taken to provide extra dynamic tonal control via the modwheel and the X/Y pads.

Betelgeuse is the darkest collection for Zebra2 inspired by the music of Ben Frost (Dark), Hildur Gudnadottir (Chernobyl), Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein (Stranger Things) and Charlie Clouser (Saw). Betelgeuse also uses pitch shifting techniques to bring that slightly unstable and drifting analogue feel. Valis is a dark cinematic analog tour de force collection of 180 signature patches for U-He Zebra 2.8. The set contains a wide sound palette of gloomy darkness and strange evil, balanced with a hint of salvaging light. There are characterful arpeggios, dark basslines and basses, twisted synth keys with after-key dynamics, silky warm pads to driving, tense pulses and ominous soundscapes. Being both beautiful and sinister by nature, these sounds are perfectly suited to be used in TV/Film and sci-fi underscore dramas and horror. While heavily influenced by artists Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein of Stranger Things fame, additional influences can be attributed to artists such as Ben Frost, Apparat, Disasterpeace and Vangelis. Many patches offer added adaptability programmed into the modwheel and aftertouch is used for more expression. All sounds have a few dB headroom and X/Y assignments for further exploring. Valis requires Zebra 2.8. The cover artwork is created by concept artist Andrey Vozny and licensed with permission.
